I became introduced to affiliate marketing back in 2009 due to the down turn in the market. Like many others at that time, the economic “crash” directly affected my financial situation.
I was a loan officer at the time and had been for about 7 years when the market literally fell apart. I was enjoying a very nice income but the long hours and time away from my family caused me to really think about what it was I wanted for my future.
Those of us in the financial industry were hit extremely hard by the market crash. In a matter of weeks I went from feeling totally secure to literally making just enough to pay for my gas to and from work. Needless to say, I quickly came to the conclusion that selling loans was not what I wanted to do with the rest of my life and decided I was going to try my hand at something online.
The story continues with those next few months. I left my job and began the pain staking task of trying to learn online marketing techniques, processes, etc. Can I tell you how completely lost I was…there was so much information out there (most of it bad) that I was overwhelmed and had no idea where to begin.
I had no one to guide me and believed pretty much everything I found on line. I mean you cannot lie on line in front of the world, right? If you had good reviews and a picture of a bonus check, a mansion and a top of the line car on your site, then you must be the real deal. Please don’t slam me for being so naieve because I have already kicked myself over and over.
I tried to put the pieces of the puzzle together by trying this thing and then that one, and then OMG, that person sounds awesome, so I had to try their latest and greatest. Before I knew it, I had spent a lot of money and still not completely understanding what I was doing.
At the end of the day, all I really had was an email inbox that was blowing up due to all of the opt ins. I became so frustrated that I ended up leaving the online marketing business for the second time. I found myself sucked into another corporate job, which is where I have spent the past 5 years working long hours with a great salary but very unhappy. I was not fulfilled; I was exhausted!
In 2015, with my husband’s blessing, I decided to leave corporate America and get back to creating a business on line. In my heart, I knew I could do it if I just had the right tools and people to guide me. And, then I found Wealthy Affiliate, which is in my opinion the best tool for online success. The pieces of the puzzle have finally fit together.
Please do not ever be fooled into thinking an online business is easy. It takes just as much hard work and dedication as any other business. The road to success is never an easy one. But, I find that working for myself is much more rewarding.
The question you need to ask yourself is how much do you want the freedom that comes with being your own boss?
I knew it would be hard work, and I was okay with that because I deeply believe if you do not have to work hard at something you will never truly appreciate it.
There is absolutely freedom online if you simply work hard, follow the necessary steps as outlined, and remember there is no such thing as a get-rich-quick program!
